About The Artist

Peter DeVito is an American artist who currently attends the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. From a young age, he exhibited artistic tendencies, and as time has progressed, he has developed into the artist he is today. When his interest in art began, DeVito solely focused on perfecting his draftsmanship. This was until the fall of 2013, when he got accepted into a Pre-College Program at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. The program's main focus was on analog photography and taught students how to take artistic photographs, develop film, and make prints in a darkroom setting. From that point on, DeVito decided to start pursuing photography, rather than, only practicing illustration, and it was one of the best decisions he ever made.

Artist Statement

Through my work, I aspire to convey my perspective on the world. My goal is to evoke pensiveness and contemplation from those who view my pieces. I don't want people to see my artwork only for what it is on the surface. I want them to ponder what they're looking at and its significance.

Producing portraits is my addiction. I have always had a fascination with the human face, its structure, its form. From a young age, my aim was to capture the essence of a person and now that I am able to, I don't think I'll ever stop.

My work tells the story I can't vocalize, the story I can't describe with words.
